Healthy Transitions

Recently I decided to change my hair color from RED to PLATINUM BLONDE.

Now, most hairdressers know that this is a daunting task and can be down right scary if you are in the wrong hands. So starting slowly, I began my transition. When you are truly committed to the integrity of your hair, it is best to make major changes (especially ones involving bleach and highlights) slowly and progressively.

It is possible to make the in between stages look just as beautiful as the finished product. That allows you to have beautiful healthy hair and still get what you want. “Slow and steady wins the race”.

When you keep your hair strong the end result is always more beautiful.

Starting out as a dark red violet, I first allowed the red to fade and then retouched my roots to a couple shades lighter and added a few highlights to blend and brighten. This paved the way for the rest of the process.

The process can move as fast or as slow as you would like to, or as your hair would allow.

Knowing that I was going to be putting a little more stress on my hair, I decided to be pro active and purchase some intensive care treatments for my hair such as MoroccanOil Restorative and MoroccanOil Intense Hydrating treatments.

I continually use them once a week and that keeps my hair healthy during between stages.

Next step was to neutralize the base and go another shade lighter, this worked me towards BLONDE and not RED. At this time we added a more heavy highlight technique, being very careful not to overlap the already existing highlights. Since the ends still had red in them, that made for a very beautiful strawberry blonde!

Moving forward on my next color touch up, we went to a High-lift blonding base color.

This guided me into a bright and beautiful blonde!!

We added a few spotlights in the front still being careful not to overlap the already existing highlights. When doing this type of detail highlighting it is VERY important NOT to overlap bleached areas.

Once the majority of the red is completely gone, we will do our retouch with Goldwell’s Oxy bleach, (this bleach is meant for intense lifting and has a blue color to it for extra toning).

Next we tone it with a beautiful toning formula using Goldwell Topchic to get that radiant color of platinum blonde that we all love! This process in not a fast one, it takes dedication and patience to really achieve the beautiful results that you are looking for!

The one thing I LOVE about the transition is that I have had some beautiful color combinations in the in between stages!
